Living Our Mountain Dream
Mountain Dream Alpacas began in 1998 with the purchase of two suri alpacas and a dream of one day living in the mountains. At the time, we were living in the Houston, Texas area and working in corporate careers, but we knew we wanted a different kind of life. What started as a curiosity about alpacas quickly grew into a lifelong passion.
Over the years, our herd expanded as we added huacaya alpacas, gained experience in breeding and birthing, and helped many others begin their own alpaca journeys. In 2003, after more than five years of boarding our alpacas with other farms, we purchased our own ranch near Navasota, Texas.
For more than fourteen years, we raised, boarded, bred, and cared for alpacas there. At our largest, we were responsible for more than 130 alpacas, both our own and those entrusted to us by customers.
Eventually, the dream that inspired our business name became reality. After a lengthy cross-country move, we settled in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, where we continue to raise alpacas and share our experience with others.
Today, Mountain Dream Alpacas is home to a smaller herd, allowing us to focus on personalized care, meaningful experiences, and helping others discover the joy of alpacas.
